Uillean Pipes?

You had the Irish harp, now is time for uillean pipes.

The uilleann pipes are the characteristic national bagpipe of Ireland. Like any bagpipes they were a battle musical instrument, but we know them above all thanks to their somewhat new age use by Enya (Clannad? U2? Remember?). Yes, uillean pipes have a fascinating sound, and they are also very difficult to play.

For the LABS serie, Spitfire Audio present Uillean Pipes.

“Made in collaboration with award-winning composer Hannah Peel, LABS Uilleann pipes features in her score for the National Theatre production of ‘Dancing at Lughnasa’. Also known as the Irish Bagpipe, Uilleann pipes utilise multiple drones, regulators and chanters to produce acres of sonic possibilities. Performed with traditional Celtic flourishes and ornamentations, this rarely sampled instrument provides an unconventional way to add texture and interest to contemporary music”.

Just download and install the free virtual instrument LABS, download Uillean Pipes and run on the hill shouting freedooomm freedooom… Maybe add to your download also Gaelic Voices and you are ready.

They sound pretty good, recommended.
